Hyderabad Police Conduct ‘Operation Kavach’ Across 150 Spots to Ensure Peaceful December 6

Operation Kavach was carried out across the city on Friday night as Hyderabad Police intensified vigilance ahead of the sensitive December 6 anniversary. The special drive saw checks at nearly 150 locations, with around 5,000 personnel screening vehicles, verifying suspicious individuals, and stepping up patrolling in areas marked as sensitive.

The operation formed part of a broader preventive strategy to ensure the day passed without incident given the history of communal unrest that followed the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition. Police also monitored social media for misinformation and targeted numberless and stolen vehicles.

Officials said the extensive checks helped maintain calm across the city, with the exercise aimed squarely at deterrence rather than response. City Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said the coordinated effort reinforced Hyderabad’s commitment to safety and public order.
