Hyderabad Police Bust Milk Adulteration Racket, 100 Litres Seized
Police have busted an alleged adulterated milk racket on the outskirts of Hyderabad, arresting a 43-year-old man and seizing 100 litres of suspected adulterated milk during a raid at a unit in Pocharam village.
According to a statement issued by the Future City Police Commissionerate, the Maheshwaram Zone Special Operations Team (SOT) conducted the raid following a tip-off about the illegal activity. During the inspection, police reportedly found that the accused, who was engaged in the milk business, was mixing hydrogen peroxide and milk powder with milk to increase its quantity.
Investigators said the adulterated milk was being supplied to consumers in Hyderabad, potentially exposing people to serious health risks. The use of unauthorised substances in milk intended for consumption has raised concerns over public safety and the dangers of food adulteration.
During the operation, police seized 100 litres of suspected adulterated milk, one litre of hydrogen peroxide and 35 packets of milk powder, each weighing one kilogram. The seized materials were reportedly being used in the adulteration process.
The arrested individual, along with the seized materials, was handed over to the Ibrahimpatnam Police Station for further legal action. Police are proceeding with the necessary investigation into the alleged operation and the supply of adulterated milk to the city.
The police have urged residents to remain cautious while purchasing milk and dairy products. Consumers have also been advised to pay attention to the quality and source of the products they buy and report any suspected cases of adulteration to the concerned authorities.
The operation highlights the continuing concerns over food safety and the need for vigilance against illegal practices that could put public health at risk.
