In 2025, Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police dismantled one of the largest Telugu movie piracy rackets, arresting five individuals responsible for leaking popular films like "HIT: The Third Case," "#Single", "Kuberaa," and "Hari Hara Veera Mallu."

The racket operated through two major methods: camcorder recordings inside theaters using hidden mobile phones and hacking digital servers to steal unreleased HD copies of films. The stolen content was then distributed via piracy websites such as 1TamilBlasters, 5MoviezRulz, and 1TamilMV, with all transactions conducted anonymously through cryptocurrency. Key accused include Ashwani Kumar, who hacked servers and sold HD prints for $800 per movie, and Cyril Infant Raj, mastermind behind piracy website 1TamilBlasters, who earned crores via crypto sponsorships from online betting platforms.

Following the crackdown, Hyderabad Police convened a high-level meeting with prominent Telugu film stars including Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, and Nani, along with producers and officials. The meeting focused on collaborative efforts to curb piracy, emphasizing stronger cybersecurity, enhanced theater surveillance, content watermarking, and swift reporting of suspicious activities.

This combined law enforcement and industry initiative marks a significant step in combating piracy, protecting creative content and revenues in the digital age, and highlights the urgent need to address the evolving, cryptocurrency-backed movie piracy networks.
