Hyderabad Police Book Mall Management and Organizers After Actress Nidhhi Agerwal Mobbed
The Cyberabad Police have registered a suo motu case against the management of Lulu Mall and event organizers, Shreyas Media, following a promotional event that left actress Nidhhi Agerwal visibly distressed and raised serious concerns over public safety.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, December 17 , during the launch of the song "Sahana Sahana" from the upcoming Prabhas-starrer film, The Raja Saab . As Nidhhi Agerwal, the film’s lead actress, attempted to leave the mall in Kukatpally, she was overwhelmed by a massive crowd that breached security barricades.
Viral social media footage shows a chaotic scene where the actress was surrounded and manhandled by individuals attempting to take selfies. Witnesses reported that several people in the crowd invaded her personal space and tried to touch her. In the videos, a shaken Agerwal is seen clutching her dupatta and appearing visibly terrified as her security team struggled to form a human chain to escort her to her vehicle. Upon finally reaching her car, she was reportedly heard exclaiming, "Oh my God, what was that?" in a state of shock.
The KPHB Police Station initiated legal proceedings on Thursday after the footage surfaced online. Police officials confirmed that the primary reason for the case was the organizers' failure to obtain the mandatory prior permission required for an event of this scale.“It was stated by KPHB Inspector S. Rajashekar Reddy that a high-profile celebrity was invited and a large public gathering was held by the organizers without a police 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC). This led to a total breakdown of crowd control, by which both the celebrity and the general public were endangered."
The incident has sparked widespread outrage across social media, with many users condemning the behavior as harassment rather than "fan enthusiasm." Renowned singer and activist Chinmayi Sripada lashed out at the crowd on X, describing the group's actions as "worse than hyenas" and calling for a change in how women are treated in public spaces.
While the makers of The Raja Saab slated for a January 9, 2026 release have yet to issue an official statement, the police investigation into the security lapses remains active.
