Hyderabad Man Held Captive on Myanmar-Thailand Border

Hyderabad resident Meer Sajjad Ali has reportedly been illegally detained near the Myanmar-Thailand border, raising serious concerns within his family. His mother, Nazia Fatima , has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi , External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar , and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi to ensure her son’s safe return to India.

Deceived Under the Pretext of Employment

Speaking to the media on Friday, Nazia Fatima said her son left for abroad six months ago , claiming he had secured a job. She lost all contact with him after about a month and a half. Two months later, Sajjad Ali reportedly called to describe his situation: he was lured with promises of a work visa for Thailand , but upon arrival, his eyes were reportedly blindfolded, and he was forced to work under harsh conditions . He also mentioned that he had been deprived of his phone and belongings since the military arrived in the area. Fatima urged the government to rescue her son immediately .

Owaisi Calls for Urgent Action

Reacting to the incident, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi confirmed that at least 16 Indians had been illegally detained near the Myanmar-Thailand border, including three from Hyderabad. He stated that victims were lured with job offers, transported, and forced into labor , working 18 to 20 hours a day , suffering physical abuse , and denied access to passports, phones, and medical care . Sajjad Ali is a resident of Osman Nagar , with others from Maula Ali and Banjara Hills also reportedly trapped. Owaisi urged the External Affairs Ministry to take immediate action .

BJP Leader Raises Alarm on Human Trafficking

BJP leader N.V. Subhash expressed concern over the growing human trafficking racket , saying that people are being lured abroad with promises of high-paying jobs , and currently 16 Indians are trapped , including 4–5 from Hyderabad . Families of the victims have appealed to the central government for urgent intervention .
