Hyd to host International Short Film Festival in December

The Hyderabad International Short Film Festival, organized under the Telangana Film Development Corporation, will take place from December 19 to 21. The event will be hosted by the Dadasaheb Phalke School of Film Studies. The festival is expected to cost around ₹30 lakh, which will be funded from the Telangana Film Development Corporation’s resources.

The Telangana government is taking a major step to promote young talent in the film industry. To encourage innovative filmmakers, writers, and technical experts, the state has approved the organization of the “Young Filmmakers Awards.” Orders for the initiative were issued under the guidance of Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.

A special committee has been reconstituted to oversee the awards. Director Dasarath has been appointed as chairman, with members including well-known filmmaker Harish Shankar, director-actor Balagam Venu, National Award-winning cinematographer P.G. Vinda, popular singer Rahul Sipligunj, director Charan Arjun, and writer-director L. Lakshmi. The Executive Director of the Telangana Film Development Corporation will serve as the convener of the committee.

This festival is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to nurture creative talent and provide a platform for young filmmakers to showcase their work.

The government’s decision is set to inspire a new wave of enthusiasm among young filmmakers in the state. Industry insiders believe that awards will provide them with a platform to showcase their creativity. “Telangana is giving a fresh breath to the film industry, and platforms are being prepared for young talent,” the industry sources said.
