In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the EAGLE Force, along with S.R. Nagar police, arrested a 17-year-old boy for illegally transporting ganja in Hyderabad. The minor was caught at the Nature Cure Hospital railway station while allegedly attempting to board a train to Mumbai.

Police seized 10 kilograms of ganja from his possession, estimated to be worth around ₹5 lakh. The arrest was made on January 5 following specific intelligence inputs about drug movement through the railway network.

Preliminary investigation revealed that drug syndicates based in Mumbai are increasingly using minors to transport narcotics across states to evade police checks. Officials expressed serious concern over this trend, stating that it poses a grave threat to the future of young people.

According to the police, the boy works as a tempo cleaner in Mumbai. In the last week of December, the main accused lured him with a payment of ₹1,500 and sent him to Odisha on the pretext of transport work. He was later taken to Malkangiri, where he met a drug supplier. From there, he was directed to travel to Hyderabad, where he was handed a travel bag containing five packets of ganja near the Nature Cure Hospital railway station.

The minor was instructed to deliver the bag to another accused in Mumbai. However, before he could board the train, the police intercepted and detained him.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. Special teams have been formed to track down the main accused, who are currently absconding. The EAGLE Force reiterated that strict action will continue against drug networks operating in and through the city.
