Hyd Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) get new homes from Sept 16

Two busy Passport Seva Kendras in the city are moving to new, easier-to-reach addresses from September 16, promising quicker service and better facilities for thousands of applicants. The Ameerpet centre will now operate from the MGBS Metro station complex, while the Tolichowki centre shifts to the Siri Building on Old Mumbai Road, Raidurg.

The moves are meant to make passport work less of a chore. Both new locations have upgraded infrastructure to handle higher footfall and improved waiting areas, and officials say arrangements are in place to start services from the new premises on September 16. The Regional Passport Officer inspected the MGBS site ahead of the opening to check logistics and amenities.

Why it matters: MGBS is a major transport hub and Raidurg sits close to the city’s IT corridor, so the shift should make the centres easier to reach for both daily commuters and office-goers. Better space and facilities mean officials can process applications more smoothly, reducing queues and wait times on busy days. For many applicants, especially those travelling from other parts of the city or state, the new addresses will cut travel time and make follow-up visits less painful.

A practical note: if you have an appointment after Sept 16, double-check the PSK address before you leave,the service remains the same, only the location changes. In the short term, authorities will need clear signboards and public messages so people find the new centres without hassle.
