A shutdown led by BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy along with a Joint Action Committee (JAC) opposing the proposed dumping yard in Huzurabad town of Karimnagar district was successfully observed on Friday.

Shops and commercial establishments across the town voluntarily remained closed, showing solidarity with the protest . A massive bike rally was also conducted through the town under the MLA’s leadership.

Addressing the gathering, Kaushik Reddy raised concerns over the plan to set up a dumping yard near residential areas, warning that it could pose serious health hazards to the public. He further cautioned that the region’s fertile agricultural lands , known for producing high-quality seeds supplied nationwide, could be polluted and severely damaged.

He stated that the issue is not political but one that concerns the welfare of the entire region, urging people from all backgrounds to come together. The MLA demanded that the state government immediately withdraw the proposal, warning of intensified protests if no action is taken.

Kaushik Reddy announced that he would take part in a two-day dharna scheduled for the 7th and 8th of this month, to be held under an all-party initiative. He expressed gratitude to traders, transport workers, and the public for making the bandh a success, and affirmed that the agitation will continue until the dumping yard proposal is scrapped.
