Around 370 people were taken ill across several parts of Delhi after allegedly consuming adulterated buckwheat flour ( kuttu ka atta ) during Navratri fasting, officials said on Wednesday.

Residents from Jahangirpuri, Mahendra Park, Samaypur, Bhalswa Dairy, Lal Bagh, and Swaroop Nagar reported symptoms such as vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea after eating food prepared with the flour. Patients were admitted to hospitals including Safdarjung, Ram Manohar Lohia, Lok Nayak, Babu Jagjivan Ram, and Burari . Doctors said all patients are stable and no critical case has been reported.

An investigation is underway to trace the source of the contaminated flour.

The Delhi government has ordered an inquiry and asked food safety officers to collect and test samples from multiple vendors. Officials said preliminary suspicion points to contamination or mixing with substandard flour, but laboratory results are awaited .

Meanwhile, the incident has also triggered political sparring, with the AAP and BJP trading charges over alleged lapses in food safety checks.
