Hrithik Roshan has added his voice to the wave of praise surrounding Dhurandhar , Aditya Dhar’s action drama that released on December 5 , but with a thoughtful caveat. The actor admired the film’s craft and performances while openly stating that he “ may disagree with the politics of it. ”

On Thursday , Roshan posted a reflective note on Instagram , calling Dhurandhar a powerful piece of cinema. He celebrated the team’s storytelling, writing, “I love cinema… Dhurandhar is an example of that. I loved the storytelling. It’s cinema.” However, he also offered a pointed reflection: “I may disagree with the politics of it, and argue about the responsibilities us filmmakers should bear as citizens of the world.” Despite this, he added that he loved the film and learned from it as a “student of cinema.”

Roshan’s tone was markedly different on X , where he expressed pure excitement and admiration. He wrote, “Still can’t get Dhurandhar out of my mind… I can’t wait for part 2!” He also praised the cast with enthusiastic shoutouts: Ranveer Singh for his “silent to fierce” transformation, Akshaye Khanna for proving why he remains a favourite, R Madhavan for his “grace and strength”, and Rakesh Bedi for a “phenomenal act”. He further highlighted the impressive work of the makeup and prosthetics team.

This contrast, philosophical caution on Instagram, unfiltered excitement on X, quickly drew attention online, sparking memes and conversations about how platform context shapes expression.

Roshan’s review joined a growing list of industry endorsements. Akshay Kumar called the film “hard hitting”, while stars like Rakul Preet Singh , Smriti Irani , Anupam Kher , and Deepika Padukone also extended strong support.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar follows Hamza , an Indian spy who infiltrates Pakistan to enter Rehman Dakait’s gang. The film draws from real incidents including the 2001 Parliament attack and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks , offering a charged look into the India Pakistan conflict. The cast includes Ranveer Singh , Akshaye Khanna , Arjun Rampal , R Madhavan , Sanjay Dutt , and Sara Arjun .

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh , Dhurandhar has already achieved significant box office success, strengthening its position as one of the season’s biggest talking points, both for its storytelling and its politics.

Roshan’s comments have now added another layer to the discussion, inviting audiences to think about intent , ideology , and artistry in mainstream cinema while still celebrating the film’s craft.
