The House Listing and Housing Census in Andhra Pradesh will commence on May 1 as part of the Census-2027 programme, said State Director of Census Operations and Citizen Registrations J. Nivas . He briefed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu about the arrangements and implementation plan during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office.

According to officials, the census exercise will be carried out in two phases . The first phase, scheduled from May 1 to May 30 , will focus on house listing and housing census activities across the state. During this period, officials will gather details on the condition and structure of houses and the availability of basic facilities such as drinking water, electricity and toilets. Information on household assets will also be recorded, providing a comprehensive overview of housing conditions in the state.

To make the process easier for citizens, a Self-Census option will be available between April 16 and April 30 . Through this facility, residents can submit their family details online. A dedicated public portal has been set up to enable people to complete the process conveniently.

The second phase of the census will begin in February 2027 , focusing on population enumeration. During this stage, data related to social, economic and cultural aspects of the population, migration patterns and family details such as the number of children will be collected. Officials said the information will help governments plan and implement development programmes more effectively.

Authorities also noted that the 16th Census will be conducted entirely through a digital system. Data will be collected using mobile applications and web portals. The Central Government has developed a House Listing App available in 16 languages to support the process, which is expected to ensure faster and more accurate data collection.
