Honda Amaze earns five-star adult safety rating in Bharat NCAP tests
Honda’s compact sedan Amaze has achieved a five-star rating for adult occupant protection in the latest Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) safety tests, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to vehicle safety.
The Amaze scored 28.33 out of 32 points for adult protection and 40.81 out of 49 for child safety. Bharat NCAP evaluates cars through three major crash scenarios, frontal offset, side barrier, and side pole impacts to assess how well the cabin survives and how effectively seatbelts, airbags, and structural zones protect occupants. A score above 27 for adults and above 38 for children is generally considered strong performance, indicating low risk of serious injury. Cars usually lose points if the footwell or dashboard shows deformation, if chest and thigh readings rise beyond ideal limits, or if child seats do not prevent excessive head movement during impact. In the Amaze’s case, tests were conducted on 1,241 kg variants, and across V, VX, and ZX trims available in manual and CVT versions produced after October 2025, the car earned five stars for adult occupants and four stars for child safety. Key standard features contributing to this performance include six airbags, electronic stability control, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
Honda India hailed the ratings as recognition of its focus on safety in affordable cars. The Amaze now matches or exceeds rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which also holds a five-star adult safety rating. Experts say these results underscore Bharat NCAP’s growing role in pushing automakers to prioritize safety, even in mass-market segments.
With rising consumer awareness and regulatory attention, safety ratings are becoming an increasingly important factor in car-buying decisions. Honda’s achievement positions the Amaze strongly among compact sedans in India by combining near-segment pricing with high safety standards. The Amaze starts at around ₹ 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to about ₹ 10.90 lakh, depending on the variant. In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, often seen as the benchmark budget sedan, ranges from roughly ₹ 6.79 lakh to ₹ 10.14 lakh. Despite a slightly higher starting price, the Amaze offers far stronger safety credentials with its recent five-star adult-occupant and four-star child-occupant ratings, making it one of the safest options in its price bracket. This blend of competitive pricing and top-tier safety gives the Amaze a compelling value-for-money appeal for buyers who want both affordability and protection.
