Home Minister Anitha Vangalapudi inaugurates newly built DSP Office in Thulluru

A newly constructed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) office was by Home Minister Anitha Vangalapudi Thulluru, located in the Amaravati capital region of Andhra Pradesh, in the presence of Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta. The new facility is expected to enhance law and order management in the administrative core of the state.

The inauguration ceremony was conducted with Vedic rituals and traditional consecration performed by scholars, followed by the planting of saplings on the premises. Senior police officials, local representatives, and residents of the region were present during the event.

Before the establishment of this office, Thulluru mandal was under the jurisdiction of the Mangalagiri DSP office in Guntur Rural Police District. With the opening of the Thulluru DSP office, a new police sub-division has been officially created to provide more focused policing in the Amaravati area, which houses key state institutions.

The office is situated within close proximity to major government establishments; the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat at Velagapudi is about 4 to 5 kilometres away, and the Andhra Pradesh High Court at Nelapadu lies around 6 to 7 kilometres from the site. The location has been identified as strategically important for maintaining security, traffic coordination, and public safety in the capital region.

Officials stated that the creation of the Thulluru DSP office will help in efficient coordination among police stations and improve emergency response within the rapidly developing Amaravati zone. The move aligns with the state’s broader efforts to strengthen administrative and security infrastructure in areas surrounding the capital.

As per the current organizational structure, Andhra Pradesh has around 115 DSP offices functioning under 26 police districts and 13 police ranges. Each sub-division is supervised by a Deputy Superintendent of Police or Assistant Superintendent of Police and reports to the respective district Superintendent of Police.

The inauguration of the Thulluru DSP office marks a key step in decentralizing police administration within the Amaravati region, which continues to regain administrative activity and development focus.
