Home Minister Anitha Vangalapudi assesses Cyclone Montha damage in Payakaraopeta
Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Anitha Vangalapudi carried out an inspection of areas affected by Cyclone Montha in the Payakaraopeta Assembly constituency on Friday. The visit was aimed at assessing the extent of damage and ensuring that immediate relief and rehabilitation measures were being implemented effectively.
During the visit, the Minister inspected Bangarammapalem village in S. Rayavaram mandal, one of the areas severely impacted by the cyclone. The well-being of every individual in the village was personally reviewed. The Minister expressed deep concern over the destruction of houses belonging to Bondi Masenamma and Vadipila Rajamma, who lost their homes in the storm. As a gesture of personal support, financial assistance was extended to both families from her own funds.
The Minister also met Mailipilli Sathiyamma, a widow who lost her husband in a sea accident five years ago. She was consoled and given financial help from the Minister’s personal resources. Instructions were issued to the local authorities to allot permanent houses immediately to these affected families.
During the inspection, officials were directed to resolve all local issues in Bangarammapalem within 15 days. The Minister assured that the state government would fully support fishing families who suffered losses due to the cyclone’s impact.
Speaking during the visit, the Minister noted that the government was committed to standing by every affected family. Relief efforts, she emphasized, were being carried out on a war footing to restore normalcy at the earliest.
The inspection formed part of the government’s ongoing efforts to monitor post-cyclone rehabilitation activities in Anakapalli district, which suffered substantial damage from Cyclone Montha earlier this week. The Minister reviewed the condition of houses, public infrastructure, and essential services, and instructed officials to ensure that rehabilitation and compensation measures reach the victims without delay.
The visit by Home Minister Anitha Vangalapudi underscored the government’s focus on immediate assistance, long-term rehabilitation, and community welfare for the cyclone-affected population. Local residents expressed relief at the prompt response and reassurances provided during the inspection.
