History Rewritten! Neeraj-Yashvir Double Podium and Boxers' Show Lift India at CWG

India enjoyed one of its finest days at the Commonwealth Games, with historic judo gold medals, a memorable javelin double podium, and a dominant boxing performance powering the country's medal campaign to new heights.

The biggest milestone came in judo, where Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh became India's first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medallists in the sport. Asmita fought back brilliantly to defeat Canada's Heidi Quach in the women's 48kg final, while Harsh stunned Australian Olympian Joshua Katz in the men's 60kg final with a decisive late waza-ari. Yamini Mourya added a silver in the women's 57kg category, giving India its best-ever Commonwealth Games judo campaign with two golds and one silver.

In athletics, Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra secured silver in the men's javelin throw with a season-best 85.83m despite difficult windy conditions. The event also marked the arrival of a new star as debutant Yashvir Singh produced a sensational personal best of 85.41m on his final attempt to clinch bronze, handing India a memorable double podium finish. Tejaswin Shankar scripted history as well, becoming the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games decathlon medal after claiming bronze despite competing through a knee injury.

India's boxing contingent produced one of the standout performances of the Games, with 10 boxers advancing to the finals. Arundhati Choudhary delivered the upset of the day by defeating defending champion Rosie Eccles, while Lovlina Borgohain, Jaismine Lamboria, Preeti Pawar, Sakshi Chaudhary, Priya Ghanghas, Ankush Panghal, Jadumani Singh, and Narender also booked their places in the gold medal bouts.

India also maintained its impressive run in lawn bowls, with the men's pairs remaining unbeaten, although the cycling team endured a difficult outing. With historic firsts, emerging stars and multiple medal hopes still alive, India continued to build strong momentum in its Commonwealth Games campaign.
