Hindustan Power Bags 100 MW Solar Project From Punjab Government
Hindustan Power on Thursday said it has secured a 100-megawatt solar power project from Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, strengthening its renewable energy portfolio in the state.
The project was awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding process , followed by an e-reverse auction , reflecting the growing emphasis on cost-efficient solar procurement. While the company did not disclose the tariff, recent bids in Punjab have hovered around ₹2.9–3 per unit , indicating a highly competitive pricing environment.
The project is expected to be developed as a utility-scale installation , potentially aligned with PSPCL’s broader solar expansion plans, including previously tendered projects in regions such as Bathinda that also integrate transmission infrastructure.
Under the agreement, Hindustan Power will sign a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with PSPCL, ensuring long-term revenue visibility while contributing to Punjab’s clean energy supply. The plant is slated for commissioning within 24 months from the effective date of the PPA.
Punjab has been actively scaling up its renewable energy capacity through multiple initiatives aimed at reducing dependence on fossil fuels and meeting rising electricity demand. The addition of new solar capacity is also expected to support grid stability and diversify the state’s energy mix.
Chairman Ratul Puri said Punjab remains a key market for the company, citing steady demand for reliable and sustainable power . He added that the project would further strengthen the company’s operational footprint while supporting the state’s transition towards greener energy.
Hindustan Power is an integrated power generation company with a focus on renewable and transitional energy solutions in India.
