Hindu Man Found Hanging in Bangladesh, Minority Groups Demand Swift Justice
A disturbing incident from Bangladesh has triggered concern and outrage after a 40 year old Hindu temple caretaker , Nayan Sadhu , was found hanging from a tree days after he went missing.
Nayan Sadhu , a resident of the Dohazari area in Chhattogram, worked as a caretaker cum priest at a Shivakali temple in the Cox’s Bazar region. According to reports, two unidentified men allegedly took him away on the evening of April 19 . Three days later, his decomposed body was found hanging in a remote hilly area near his village.
Police have said that the exact cause of death is still unclear, and investigations are ongoing to determine whether it is a case of murder or suicide . The body has been sent for autopsy for further examination.
The incident has drawn strong reaction from minority groups. The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council strongly condemned the death and demanded immediate arrest and strict punishment for those responsible. Leader Kajal Debnath questioned the circumstances, stating that Nayan was “an ordinary temple caretaker in a remote area,” raising concerns over the motive behind the incident.
The Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council also expressed concern, suggesting that the delay in recovering the body indicates the possibility of foul play and a planned attack .
This incident comes amid growing concerns over minority safety in the region. Reports suggest more than 130 incidents of communal violence were recorded in Bangladesh between January and March this year, further deepening anxiety among minority communities.
As investigations continue, the case has once again raised serious questions about security, justice, and protection of minorities in the country, with calls mounting for swift and transparent action from authorities.
