
Heroic Railway Staff Ensure Safe Delivery Aboard Alappuzha–Dhanbad Express
In a remarkable act of prompt response and compassion, railway staff assisted a pregnant woman in delivering her baby safely during a train journey.
The incident took place on Sunday on board the Alappuzha–Dhanbad Express (No. 13352). The woman, travelling with her family in the B-1 coach, developed sudden and severe labour pains shortly after the train passed Annavaram station. Alarmed by the unexpected situation, her family immediately approached the onboard ticket-checking staff for help.
TTI (Amenities) G. Jyothi responded without delay, quickly assessing the situation and stepping in to assist. Despite limited facilities inside the coach, she managed the emergency with confidence, comforting the woman and ensuring a safe delivery. At the same time, she coordinated with railway authorities to arrange medical support at the nearest station. Under her supervision, the woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
Quick Action Leads to Timely Medical Support
To ensure immediate medical care, railway officials arranged for the train to make an unscheduled stop at Elamanchili station. An ambulance was kept ready, and the mother and newborn were promptly shifted to a government hospital for further treatment.
Staff members, including Bipul Kumar and Zubair Khan , played key roles in handling the situation efficiently. Railway authorities confirmed that both the mother , baby , emergency , delivery , ambulance , train , and staff are safe and doing well.
The swift action and teamwork displayed by the Vijayawada Division staff have been widely praised, highlighting their dedication and commitment during emergencies.
