Help and Save Karnataka': CM Shivakumar's Appeal to PM Modi in Mysuru

Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Saturday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend greater support to the state, asserting that India's economic and global rise is closely intertwined with Karnataka's progress.

Speaking after the inauguration of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre (Viveka Smaraka) in Mysuru, attended by the Prime Minister, Shivakumar said Karnataka, particularly Bengaluru, has emerged as India's global gateway for innovation, technology and investment. He urged the Centre to strengthen its partnership with the state under the principles of cooperative federalism.

Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said he was making the appeal on behalf of the Karnataka government and the people of the state.

"Today, my Prime Minister is here, and on behalf of the Government of Karnataka and all the people of this state, I request him to be generous in helping Karnataka and saving Karnataka, because the entire world is looking at India through Karnataka and Bengaluru," Shivakumar said.

He stressed that sustained central assistance for infrastructure, economic development and public welfare would not only accelerate Karnataka's growth but also contribute significantly to the country's overall progress.

Describing the inauguration of the cultural and youth centre as "a historic event for the youth movement of this country," Shivakumar said the institution would inspire generations of young Indians by promoting the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.

Recalling one of Vivekananda's enduring messages, he quoted, "Be broad-hearted when you are defeated; be large-hearted when you are victorious," urging young people to embrace resilience, humility and compassion in public life.

The event brought together political leaders, dignitaries and members of the public to celebrate the opening of the memorial dedicated to one of India's most influential spiritual thinkers. The chief minister expressed hope that the Centre and the state would continue working together to advance development, strengthen national unity and create greater opportunities for future generations across Karnataka and the nation.
