
Heavy rains forecast for Telugu states
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are likely to experience widespread rainfall over the next four days. The system is being triggered by a low-pressure area and a trough (extended area of low air pressure), w hich are expected to bring moderate to heavy showers across several districts.
Officials cautioned that thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are also likely to accompany the rains. Residents, particularly those in low-lying areas, have been advised to remain alert.
Andhra Pradesh outlook
The Visakhapatnam Meteorological Centre reported that moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in many parts of the state. Alongside rain, lightning strikes pose a risk, prompting authorities to advise farmers and cattle grazers to avoid open fields, trees, and electric poles during thunderstorms.
On Friday, districts such as Kakinada, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, and NTR are expected to see moderate rainfall. Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam, Chittoor, and Tirupati districts are also likely to get moderate showers, with chances of heavy rain in a few areas.
Telangana outlook
In Telangana, the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rainfall over the next four days. On Friday, the IMD issued a yellow alert for several districts and an orange alert for others.
Along with heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph are expected. Districts such as Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Kamareddy, Medak, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Siddipet, Jagtial, Asifabad, and Adilabad are likely to be among the worst affected.
