Heavy rains disrupt Hyderabad, police urge WFH

Heavy rainfall since Friday morning has severely affected Telangana, especially Hyderabad, where several areas are waterlogged, causing traffic jams and road delays. What started as light rain in the morning turned into intense showers with thunder and lightning by evening.

In the morning, Narayanapet’s Narva recorded 44.3 mm of rainfall between 8:30 AM and 11 AM, while Muzahidpur in Vikarabad received 44 mm. In Hyderabad, Dabeerpura recorded 28.5 mm and Adarsh Nagar in Qutubullapur saw 18 mm of rainfall.

In response, A Revanth Reddy directed GHMC and other municipal authorities to stay alert, identify waterlogged areas, and quickly resolve traffic problems.

Meanwhile, the Cyberabad Police issued an advisory to IT companies, suggesting that they consider allowing employees to work from home due to the ongoing rain and expected traffic disruptions. The state’s meteorological department has warned that heavy rains may continue for the next two days.

The Chief Minister also instructed authorities to relocate residents from low-lying areas to safer locations and set up relief centers if necessary. Officials have urged people to go out only if absolutely essential.
