Amid rising temperatures and severe heatwave conditions , the Nanded district administration in Maharashtra has barred private coaching institutes from conducting physical classes between noon and 4 pm to protect students from extreme heat exposure.

The order, issued by District Collector Rahul Kardile on Wednesday, comes as the Marathwada region continues to record unusually high temperatures over the past several days.

Under the directive, coaching centres have been asked to hold classes only during morning or evening hours . Institutes have also been encouraged to shift to online or digital learning modes wherever possible.

Officials said the move aims to safeguard students’ health and reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses during the hottest part of the day. Authorities have additionally instructed institutes to follow weather advisories issued by the Meteorological Department and implement precautionary measures on campus.

These measures include ensuring the availability of safe drinking water , arranging shaded waiting areas, and spreading awareness among students about heat safety and hydration .

The administration has warned that strict action will be taken against institutions violating the order.

The decision has drawn positive reactions from parents and residents, many of whom believe similar measures should be adopted across the country during extreme summer conditions, especially to protect school and coaching students from prolonged exposure to scorching temperatures.
