A tourist was seriously injured on Wednesday evening when the bungee cord snapped during a jump at Apara Amusement Thrill Factory , an adventure sports centre in Shivpuri, Rishikesh, police said.

The victim, identified as Sonu Kumar , a resident of Gurugram, Haryana, was immediately rushed to AIIMS Rishikesh . He sustained broken ribs and a fractured left hand, but doctors have confirmed that his condition is stable, providing relief to his family and friends. Kumar had visited Rishikesh with four friends. He has not lodged a formal complaint, and no case has been registered so far, police added.

Bungee jumping operators in India are expected to follow strict safety protocols, including regular equipment checks, staff training, and liability insurance coverage. Experts note that accidents of this nature are rare but can result from equipment wear, improper attachment, or operational lapses.
