Heartbreak in Hyderabad: Infant Killed by Mother, Road Accident Claims Two Lives

A horrifying incident in Qutubullapur , on the city outskirts, has left the local community in shock. Police suspect that a two-month-old infant , Surya, was allegedly killed by his mother in a tragic act at their home under Dundigal Police Station limits.

The young couple, Mamatha (22) and Rajendra (21), originally from a village in Madhya Pradesh, had moved to Hyderabad for work and were living in Sanarelli High-Rise Apartments in Baurampet.

Initial investigations indicate the baby had been crying nonstop for the past two days, reportedly causing the mother to lose control . Police allege she inserted a gag into the infant’s mouth, tied his limbs, and threw him into a burning stove, resulting in his immediate death .

Authorities promptly reached the scene, registered a case , and sent the body to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem . Investigators are also examining whether the mother’s mental health or postpartum stress may have contributed. Both parents remain in police custody .

Meanwhile, another tragic incident occurred on Banjara Hills Road No. 1 on Monday morning. A road accident claimed the lives of a security guard and a young woman when a tanker collided with their motorcycle.

The deceased security guard, 40-year-old Mohammed Hussain, served at Santosh Nagar Police Station and also worked as a Rapido driver. He was riding with 20-year-old Akshita when the accident happened. Both were rushed to NIMS Hospital but did not survive from their injuries. Police are investigating the incident .
