‘Health is the greatest wealth’: Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu

The city’s People’s Plaza witnessed an energetic turnout on Sunday morning as the ‘Yuva Bharat Run’ was held with great enthusiasm, inspired by the Central government’s ‘Khelo India’ and ‘Fit India’ initiatives. Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu , Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla , and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy , among other dignitaries, participated and boosted the morale of the youth.

After flagging off the event, M. Venkaiah Naidu took to X to deliver a key message to young people, stating that “health is the real wealth.” He urged every youth to pay special attention to their well-being and to make exercise and yoga an integral part of their daily routine.

Emphasising dietary habits, he advised staying away from junk food and incorporating traditional millets into daily meals. He also cautioned youth against harmful addictions such as drugs, stressing that a healthy society is the true asset of a nation .

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said that a Fit India is possible only with healthy youth . He noted that the role and participation of young people would be crucial in transforming India into a developed nation over the next 25 years .

Alongside the run, the 65th ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ was celebrated nationwide with great enthusiasm. The cycling movement was held simultaneously at over 5,000 locations , spanning coastal regions, mountains, deserts, and forests . More than 300 ‘Fit India Champions’, ambassadors, and prominent personalities took part in the initiative.

The campaign stretched from Badal in Punjab to Kokrajhar in Odisha , and down south to Alappuzha . In Patna, Bihar, State Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh personally participated in cycling, setting an example for the youth.

In Hyderabad, thousands of students and young participants took part in the ‘Yuva Bharat Run’, showcasing their commitment to fitness. The presence of prominent personalities lent the event a festive atmosphere .
