Hat-Trick Hero Antonelli Powers Mercedes’ F1 Charge with Miami Win
Kimi Antonelli continued his remarkable start to the season with a third consecutive victory at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, mastering damp conditions and early-race chaos.
Starting from pole at the Miami International Autodrome, the 19-year-old briefly lost the lead after running wide under pressure from Charles Leclerc . Moments later, Max Verstappen spun following contact with Leclerc, dropping down the field.
Antonelli quickly recovered and controlled the race, finishing with a time of 1:32:18 . Lando Norris took second, 3.2 seconds behind , while Oscar Piastri secured third at +5.8 seconds after a last-lap overtake.
Mercedes maintained its dominant run, with George Russell finishing fourth at +9.6 seconds . Verstappen recovered to fifth at +12.4 seconds , while Lewis Hamilton crossed the line seventh at +18.7 seconds .
The race saw dramatic incidents early on, including a crash for Isack Hadjar and a rollover involving Pierre Gasly , who escaped unhurt.
Antonelli now leads the drivers’ championship, ahead of Norris and teammate Russell, underlining his emergence as a serious title contender. In the constructors’ standings, Mercedes hold a clear lead after winning all four races, with McLaren and Ferrari trailing.
Formula 1 now heads to the Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on May 24.
