Haryana Govt Dismisses Official in ₹590 Crore IDFC First Bank Fraud Probe
In a strong anti corruption move, the Haryana government has dismissed a senior official from the Development and Panchayat Department in connection with a massive ₹590 crore bank fraud case involving IDFC First Bank and AU Small Finance Bank.
The case pertains to alleged large scale financial irregularities involving government funds that were reportedly diverted through fake accounts and shell companies. Investigators suspect that a multi layered banking fraud network was used to siphon public money and route it into private accounts.
The dismissed officer, Naresh Bhuwani , who served as a Superintendent, was removed from service under Article 311(2)(b) of the Constitution , following what officials described as a detailed investigation that uncovered strong evidence of criminal conspiracy .
According to a government statement, the action was taken after an inquiry committee formed in February 2026 detected major irregularities and discrepancies in accounts linked to the banks. The findings led to the case being referred to the State Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) for a full scale criminal investigation.
An FIR was later registered on February 23, 2026 at the SV&ACB police station in Panchkula under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita .
Investigators reportedly found that the case involved an organised, multi layered financial fraud , where government funds were allegedly diverted through shell companies using fraudulent banking transactions.
The probe further suggested that Bhuwani, in alleged collusion with private individuals, created a fake firm that was used to siphon off public money. Authorities claim that crores of rupees were transferred into personal accounts and later used for purchasing private properties.
The state government reiterated its zero tolerance policy on corruption , stating that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has issued clear directions that strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty, regardless of position or rank.
