The Haryana government has announced free travel on Haryana Roadways buses for students appearing in the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled on June 21, in a move aimed at easing travel-related stress for aspirants.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Saturday that NEET candidates will be allowed to travel free of cost across the state on June 20 and 21 by presenting their admit cards.

According to an official statement, Saini said the government is committed to supporting students and ensuring they can appear for competitive examinations without inconvenience. He added that the initiative is intended to help aspirants reach their examination centres smoothly while reducing financial burden and anxiety.

“All NEET aspirants will be able to avail free travel in Haryana Roadways buses upon showing their admit cards,” the statement said.

The Chief Minister noted that the state had earlier extended a similar facility to candidates appearing for the Common Eligibility Test (CET) and has now decided to provide the same support to NEET aspirants.

The announcement comes in the backdrop of the cancellation of the NEET-UG examination held on May 3 following allegations of irregularities and a paper leak. The re-examination is scheduled to be conducted on June 21.

Several students and parents had expressed concerns over the additional financial burden and mental stress caused by the cancellation of the examination and the need to travel again for the retest.

Earlier this week, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also announced free travel for NEET aspirants in state-run buses. The decision came after Arvind Kejriwal said he would request the Punjab government to support students facing hardship due to the rescheduled examination.

The move by Haryana and Punjab governments is being seen as an effort to provide relief to thousands of students preparing to retake one of the country’s most competitive entrance examinations.
