Haryana Dominates U-23 National Wrestling Championship, Sweeps All Three Team Titles

Hosts Haryana delivered a commanding performance at the U-23 National Wrestling Championships , clinching the overall team titles in men's freestyle, Greco-Roman and women's wrestling categories at the three-day event in Rohtak.

Haryana topped the men's freestyle standings with 200 points , finished first in Greco-Roman with 195 points , and led the women's competition with 183 points . The Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) secured second place in both men's freestyle (138 points) and Greco-Roman (165 points), while Maharashtra finished runners-up in the women's category with 160 points.

In the men's freestyle competition, Narender (SSCB) won gold in the 74kg category by defeating Naveen (Himachal Pradesh) . Haryana's Paras claimed the 79kg title after overcoming SSCB's Yash, while Sahil Dalal (SSCB) secured gold in the 86kg division. Punjab's Jaspooran Singh emerged victorious in the heavyweight 125kg category.

The Greco-Roman contests saw Haryana and SSCB dominate the podium. Haryana's Nikhil opened the state's gold tally in the 55kg class, while SSCB wrestlers Khundongbam (60kg) and Sagar Singh (67kg) captured titles in their respective divisions. Haryana added further gold medals through Vinit Dahiya (72kg) and Tushar (77kg) . SSCB's Deepak Punia won the 82kg category, while Maharashtra's Vinay Vitthal Pujari claimed the 87kg title.

A standout performer for Haryana was Piyush Kumar , who secured gold medals in both the 97kg and 130kg categories , defeating Uttarakhand's Umang in both finals.

In women's wrestling, Haryana continued its dominance with gold medals from Kirti (53kg) , Jyoti (55kg) , Reena (57kg) and Simran (59kg) . Anjali (SSCB) won the 62kg title, while Khushi Rani (Chandigarh) and Ashwini Vishnoi (Rajasthan) emerged victorious in the 65kg and 68kg categories respectively. Maharashtra finished strongly, with Amruta winning the 72kg title and Vedika claiming gold in the 76kg division.

Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Sanjay Kumar Singh praised the quality of competition, saying the event showcased the depth of India's emerging wrestling talent and that the federation would support top performers with international exposure as they progress to the senior level.
