Harry Kane Does It Again! Bayern Smash Five As Manchester United Storm Back Into Champions League

Manchester United made a triumphant return to the Champions League while Harry Kane continued his remarkable scoring run as Bayern Munich and several other European heavyweights made strong starts to their campaigns.

Bayern produced one of the night's biggest results, crushing Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt 5-0, with Kane among the scorers. The England captain headed in Bayern's second goal, extending his remarkable run to eight consecutive Champions League matches with a goal, dating back to January.

Michael Olise scored twice for Bayern, while Jamal Musiala opened the scoring on a particularly emotional night. It was Musiala's first start since suffering seizures on the field linked to a neurological condition during the preseason. After scoring, he tapped his head in celebration.

"The feeling I had today is one I haven't had in a while. I'm happy and I know I still have steps forward to take," Musiala said.

At Old Trafford, Manchester United marked their return to Europe's elite competition with a commanding 4-0 victory over Sabah, who were making their Champions League debut. United had not played in the competition since December 2023.

Matheus Cunha opened the scoring in the 27th minute before Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko added goals before halftime. Lisandro Martinez completed the rout after the break, giving manager Michael Carrick a much-needed boost following an inconsistent start to the season.

"It looks comfortable; it wasn't always like that," Carrick said, while praising his team's overall performance.

Elsewhere, Como enjoyed a historic Champions League debut, beating Leipzig 4-1. Martin Baturina scored the Italian club's first goal in the competition.

The night also brought mixed fortunes for Fenerbahce and Roma, who drew 1-1, while PSV Eindhoven drew with Shakhtar Donetsk. Lens produced a dramatic late comeback to beat Slavia Prague 3-2 after scoring twice in stoppage time.
