Harmanpreet Kaur’s Tears After 91-Run Blitz Reveal the Struggle Behind Her Stunning Comeback
Former India captain Harmanpreet Kaur rediscovered her batting magic with a breathtaking unbeaten 91 off just 41 balls against Zimbabwe in the third and final T20 international on Tuesday, before breaking down in tears while thanking those who helped her through a difficult phase.
The 37-year-old right-hander struck 10 fours and five sixes, delivering a powerful response after failing to score a half-century in her previous 10 matches. She had also struggled to make an impact with the bat during the Women’s T20 Asia Cup and the Asian Games, despite India winning both competitions comfortably.
Harmanpreet’s emotional moment came during a post-innings conversation with former India women’s team head coach WV Raman, as she acknowledged his encouragement in helping her rediscover the freedom to play her natural game.
“The moment we came, you stepped in and you said, ‘Now you do what you want to do,’ and that's what I want to do, and really want to enjoy myself. Thanks for those words,” she said, struggling to hold back tears.
The experienced batter also credited her batting coach, Himanshu, for his work with her in the nets after the Asian Games.
“I really want to thank Himanshu bhaiya, who's been working really hard on me and today's batting was all him,” she said.
Harmanpreet stepped down as India captain across formats before the home T20I series against Zimbabwe. Her explosive innings offered a timely reminder of her batting ability and determination to bounce back.
Beyond the runs and big hits, the knock reflected the effort behind her return to form and her desire to rediscover the joy of batting.
