Harish Rao Writes to Revanth Reddy Over Delayed Siddipet Projects

A fresh political confrontation has emerged in Telangana over development in Siddipet, with T. Harish Rao accusing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of deliberately neglecting the constituency ahead of his scheduled visit.

In an open letter addressed to the Chief Minister, the senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader alleged that the current government has reversed key decisions taken during the previous regime, resulting in a significant slowdown in development. He claimed that projects worth over ₹1,070 crore sanctioned earlier for Siddipet were cancelled after the change in government, leaving multiple works incomplete.

Rao argued that the impact has been visible on the ground, with several infrastructure projects and institutional initiatives coming to a standstill. He pointed out that even works already under execution have not received further funding, effectively halting progress for more than 27 months . The situation, he said, has led to growing public dissatisfaction .

Questioning the government’s record, Rao challenged the ruling Congress to identify any new development project initiated in Siddipet since it assumed power. He maintained that the administration has failed to introduce fresh initiatives while discontinuing previously approved works.

The BRS leader also raised concerns over the upcoming Palm Oil Factory inauguration at Narmetta village in Nangunur mandal on March 22. According to him, the project was approved during the previous government, and the current administration is merely proceeding with its launch without contributing to its groundwork.

Rao’s letter further outlined a list of stalled projects , including a veterinary college, Rangnayaka Sagar tourism development, Komati Cheruvu Shilparamam, Siddipet Outer Ring Road , Thornal Agricultural College, Mittapalli Women’s Degree College building, a sports hub , and Two-Town and Three-Town police station buildings. Key works such as the Siddipet–Illanthakunta four-lane road , Siddipet–Kishtapur road, a multipurpose auditorium, and an integrated market were also cited as being affected.

Calling for corrective measures, Rao urged the Chief Minister to restore funds and resume pending works, stressing that development should not be driven by politics. He warned that continued inaction could lead to public backlash .
