Harish Rao Slams Telangana Govt Over Outsourcing Employees’ Pay Cuts

BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao has criticised the Telangana government over the reduction in salaries of outsourcing employees working in municipalities and municipal corporations, calling the move unfair and anti-employee.

Harish Rao made the remarks after representatives of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation Outsourcing Employees Association met him at his residence and submitted a memorandum outlining their grievances. He alleged that G.O.Rt.No.1181, issued by the Congress government on July 12, 2026, had adversely affected outsourcing employees across the state.

According to Harish Rao, many of these employees have been serving in the government system for 20 to 25 years and have considerable experience in their respective roles. Instead of recognising their long service, the government was reducing their wages by introducing new norms, he alleged.

He claimed the decision would have a serious financial impact on around 31,000 outsourcing employees and their families across Telangana. Harish Rao contrasted the present decision with the BRS government’s tenure, saying that salaries of outsourcing workers had been increased earlier, while the Congress government was now resorting to pay cuts.

Questioning Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao asked why the government was treating outsourcing employees in a “vindictive” manner. He said reducing the earnings of workers who had served the municipal administration for years could not be described as people-centric governance.

Harish Rao demanded that the government immediately withdraw G.O.Rt.No.1181 and restore the employees’ earlier designations without altering their existing status. He also sought protection of their previous salaries so that workers would not suffer financially because of the new norms.

The former minister further urged the government to give suitable priority to eligible outsourcing employees with long years of experience while filling regular vacancies in municipalities and municipal corporations. He said their experience and service should be taken into account when opportunities for permanent posts arise.
