Harish Rao Demands Compensation For Every Acre Of Dried-Up Crops
Farmers in Narsapur constituency have raised concerns over extensive crop losses, alleging that frequent power cuts and inadequate irrigation under the Congress government have caused standing paddy crops to dry up. Several farmers broke down while narrating their difficulties to former minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader T Harish Rao and MLA Sunitha Lakshma Reddy during their visit to the affected areas on Friday.
Harish Rao and Sunitha Lakshma Reddy inspected dried-up paddy fields in Chilpichedu and Hathnoora mandals and interacted with farmers who had suffered heavy losses. The cultivators said hundreds of acres of crops had withered due to irregular electricity supply and inadequate irrigation, leaving many families struggling with mounting debts.
A farmer named Kumar became emotional while explaining that his entire paddy crop cultivated across seven acres had dried up because of the lack of timely power supply. Recalling the previous BRS government led by K Chandrashekar Rao, farmers said they had received 24-hour quality electricity and were able to cultivate two crops annually. They alleged that the present situation had left them uncertain about electricity availability.
The farmers also accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil its promises. They complained that Rythu Bandhu assistance had not been released in full, alleging that payments had been credited for only one acre. They further claimed that the loan waiver announced by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had not reached most beneficiaries. One farmer said not even one among every 10 farmers in his village had received the promised relief.
Responding to their grievances, Harish Rao urged farmers not to lose hope and assured them that the BRS would continue putting pressure on the government to resolve their problems over the next two years. Questioning the Congress government's claim of bringing change, he asked whether discontinuing 24-hour electricity and Rythu Bandhu was the promised transformation.
Harish Rao demanded compensation for every acre of dried-up crop, immediate release of pending Rythu Bandhu funds and complete implementation of the loan waiver. He vowed to continue the party's fight until the demands were fulfilled.
