Harish Rao Accuses Telangana Government Of Denying Certificates To Students

BRS MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao has accused the Telangana government of failing students who have completed their higher education, alleging that delays in clearing fee reimbursement dues are preventing colleges from issuing certificates.

In a post on X on Sunday, Harish Rao directly criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, saying students who should be preparing to build their careers were instead being forced to struggle on the streets for their certificates.

He said several students who had completed engineering and other degree courses were facing difficulties despite securing jobs with annual packages of ₹6-7 lakh. According to Harish Rao, some students already have appointment letters but cannot join their organisations because they are unable to obtain their educational certificates.

The BRS leader also claimed that delays in receiving certificates were affecting students seeking higher education and opportunities abroad. Even requests for soft copies of certificates to submit to prospective employers were allegedly not being accepted by some colleges, he said.

Harish Rao said the situation was particularly distressing for students from rural and economically weaker backgrounds, many of whom had pursued their education with the support of the fee reimbursement scheme. Their parents, he said, were now worried about their children's careers.

Recalling the history of the scheme, Harish Rao said former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had introduced fee reimbursement and that the KCR government continued the programme, releasing ₹20,576 crore towards it during its tenure.

He alleged that the present government was weakening the scheme by failing to clear outstanding dues. Harish Rao urged Revanth Reddy to give the same attention to resolving students' problems as the government gives to political criticism.

He demanded the immediate release of pending fee reimbursement funds and urged authorities to ensure that colleges issue certificates to eligible students without further delay.

“Every rupee spent on students' education is an investment in the future of Telangana,” Harish Rao said.
