For months, she carried the weight of a secret too terrifying to speak aloud. Now, a 14-year-old student from a Haridwar school has found the courage to come forward, and the man she trusted as her archery coach stands accused of one of the gravest betrayals imaginable.
Pawan, a Haryana native employed as an archery coach at a local school, has been booked for allegedly raping the minor student , police confirmed on Thursday. The case was registered at the Kankhal police station following a complaint filed by the girl's father.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly raped the girl in October last year . He then reportedly threatened to kill her if she ever spoke of the incident, a threat that kept the young student silent for several agonising months.
The silence, however, could not last forever.
After enduring months of fear and trauma, the teenager finally found the strength to share her ordeal with her family . Her father wasted no time, he took her to the Kankhal police station and formally lodged a complaint against the accused, setting the wheels of justice in motion.
Kankhal Station House Officer Devendra Singh Rawat confirmed that the victim's statement has been officially recorded and that a medical examination has been conducted . "Police are investigating all aspects of the case," SHO Rawat said, adding that the accused would be arrested soon .
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising urgent questions about the safety of students placed under the sole supervision of coaches and instructors individuals entrusted not just with their athletic training, but with their wellbeing
The accused remains at large as of the filing of this report, though authorities have assured swift action.
