Hardoi Entrepreneur Powers Village with 2.4 TPD Biogas Plant
In a significant step towards sustainable energy, Adi Upendra Tiwari (29), a young entrepreneur from Hardoi, has developed a compressed biogas (CBG) plant producing about 2.4 tonnes per day (TPD) . Located near Bhailamau village, the plant generates gas from cow dung, sugarcane press mud, and crop residue, offering an eco‑friendly alternative to LPG and providing household energy.
Deputy Commissioner (Industries) Harsh Pratap Singh highlighted that the initiative demonstrates the potential of renewable energy to meet local energy needs while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Tiwari, a resident of Hardoi city , completed his MBA from the University of Liverpool, UK, in 2022 , after which he turned his focus to addressing India’s growing energy requirements. “With this vision, I established the energy plant in 2024. By September 2025 , it had begun producing gas,” he said.
The plant is designed as a scalable model , with Tiwari planning to increase its capacity to 12 TPD in the near future. His initiative not only provides a sustainable solution to energy shortages but also promotes the efficient use of agricultural waste, aligning with national goals for renewable energy expansion .
By leveraging local resources and innovative technology, Tiwari’s project serves as an example for similar initiatives across the country, offering a green alternative for both commercial and household energy consumption.
