H-1B visa restrictions are temporary, says CM Chandrababu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reassured Indian IT professionals that the recent tightening of H-1B visa rules in the United States is only a temporary setback. He expressed confidence that the cost-effectiveness and expertise of Indian tech talent would continue to attract global demand.

“Cost is a key factor. Indian professionals provide highly efficient and affordable services. The U.S. has always relied on our skills, and that will continue,” CM said. He added that a combination of advanced skills and lower costs has made Indian engineers highly competitive in the international market.

Impact of the $100,000 additional fee

U.S. President Donald Trump recently introduced major changes to the H-1B visa system, including a $100,000 additional fee for applications filed after September 21, 2025. While the move was intended to curb misuse of the visa program, the U.S. later acknowledged that it still needs foreign talent to meet high-skill requirements.

Commenting on the development, CM Chandrababu emphasized that no restrictions can hinder the growth of Indian professionals. “Some may face temporary difficulties, but we should turn these challenges into opportunities,” he said. He also pointed out that the majority of H-1B visa holders heading to the U.S. come from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Opportunities in India

The Chief Minister said the state is prepared to provide new opportunities for IT professionals affected by the revised visa rules. With India rapidly adopting next-generation technologies, sectors such as 4G infrastructure, satellites, drones, artificial intelligence (AI), and quantum computing are expected to create significant employment opportunities domestically. The government is taking steps to support job creation in these areas.

Global demand remains strong

Despite stricter U.S. visa regulations, countries like Canada, Australia, the U.K., Europe, and Middle Eastern nations are actively seeking skilled Indian engineers in software development, AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. Many global companies are also shifting strategies, expanding remote hiring and engineering centers in India. Analysts note that these changes are likely to create even more opportunities for Indian IT professionals, including those in Andhra Pradesh. Industry bodies are confident that global demand for Indian tech talent will continue to grow steadily in the coming years.
