The H-FAST (Hyderabad Food Adulteration Safety Taskforce) wing of the Hyderabad Police conducted a key awareness meeting in the city to curb the sale of adulterated edible oils. The meeting was held at the H-FAST office in Begum Bazaar and was chaired by DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force and H-FAST In-charge, Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, IPS . Oil manufacturers, suppliers, and other stakeholders from across the city participated.

During the meeting, the DCP stressed that food safety standards must be strictly followed in the production and sale of edible oils. He issued a clear warning to traders that the sale of loose or unbranded oil is strictly prohibited under any circumstances. Only properly packaged and sealed oils should be sold, he said, noting that loose oil sales are hazardous to public health and illegal.

Officials further highlighted that, as per FSSAI guidelines , all edible oil products must carry proper branding and packaging details , including manufacturing date, expiry date, batch number, and FSSAI licence number . The DCP warned that any malpractice such as mixing inferior oils or using harmful substances would attract strict action under the Indian Penal Code and Food Safety laws .

A 15-day deadline has been given to oil associations to comply with the norms and completely stop the sale of loose oils. The DCP cautioned that strict legal action would be taken against violators after the deadline. He urged traders to maintain transparency in business and prioritise public health over profits .

Authorities also advised consumers to purchase only branded and sealed edible oils . Citizens were urged to report any suspected adulteration to officials immediately. The meeting was attended by H-FAST Inspectors N. Ranjith Kumar Goud and M. Anjaiah , along with representatives of trade bodies.
