
Gunfire Sparks Panic on Koti Bank Street
A shocking robbery-cum-shooting incident in the Koti area on Saturday morning sent shockwaves across the city. The victim, Rinshad P.V. (26) , a ready-made children’s garments trader from Kozhikode, is currently residing at Janatha Apartments in Nampally .
On January 7 , Rinshad arrived in Hyderabad carrying ₹6 lakh in cash to purchase wholesale stock. As the deal did not materialise, he decided on the advice of his relative Mishban to deposit the cash into his bank account.
On January 31 at around 7 a.m. , while Rinshad was depositing cash at the SBI main branch ATM on Koti Bank Street , accompanied by his friend Ameer, two unidentified assailants approached him from behind. The attackers threatened him at gunpoint, placing the firearm against his abdomen, and fired two rounds , one of which struck Rinshad in the right leg , causing injuries.
Following the incident, a case was registered at Sultan Bazar Police Station under FIR No. 28/2026 . Charges have been booked under Sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 309 (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 27 of the Arms Act, 1959 .
The assailants forcibly locked Rinshad’s vehicle, fled with the cash bag in a vehicle bearing registration number TS 08 HN 8582 , and later abandoned the vehicle after travelling via Chaderghat signal, Nimbole Adda, and Kachiguda . They reportedly changed their clothes and escaped on foot.
Taking the incident seriously, Hyderabad City Police have constituted special crime teams to nab the accused. Efforts are underway to analyse CCTV footage, gather technical evidence, and coordinate with neighbouring police stations.
Police officials stated that public safety remains a top priority and assured that all resources are being deployed to apprehend the culprits at the earliest and initiate legal action.
