Gujarat gears up: Commonwealth sport delegation to review CWG 2030 preparations

A five-member Commonwealth Sport delegation arrived in Gujarat on Wednesday for a four-day visit to review preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games , set to be hosted in Ahmedabad. The delegation, led by Commonwealth Sport President Donald Rukare and CEO Katie Sadleir , met Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar to discuss infrastructure, planning, and the state’s readiness for the centenary edition of the Games.

CM Patel highlighted Gujarat’s commitment to delivering a world-class sporting experience , crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership for inspiring meticulous, time-bound planning. “We aim to set new global benchmarks in sports hosting, combining excellent facilities with a celebration of culture,” Patel said.

The delegation will inspect key venues including Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, Narendra Modi Stadium, EKA Arena, Vadodara Cricket Stadium , and the Statue of Unity , ensuring each site meets international standards. Rukare praised Gujarat’s preparations and emphasized that CWG 2030 would be a moment of pride , showcasing India’s sporting and cultural vibrancy to the world.

CM Patel also accepted an invitation to attend the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , aiming to gain insights to further enhance Gujarat’s hosting capabilities.

The visit signals the state’s determined march toward a spectacular, globally celebrated centenary Games in 2030.
