The city of Vijayawada is gearing up for a spectacular celebration as part of its annual Dussehra festivities, with a special event designed to showcase Andhra Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage on a global stage. The “Vijayawada Utsav,” organized by the Society for Vibrant Vijayawada with support from the state government, will feature a massive carnival aimed at securing a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The event, spearheaded by MP Kesineni Srinivas (Shiva Naath), promises a cultural extravaganza like no other. Around 3,000 artists in traditional Dussehra costumes will participate in the grand procession, which will start from the Municipal Stadium at 5 PM and move through the city to Benz Circle by 7 PM.

The carnival will feature a wide array of performances including Nasik drums, Kalika costumes, Pothuraju, Lambadi folk dance, Gussadi, Kerala drums, Karra Samu, Teenmaar, Sannayi ensembles, Kathakali, stick walkers, Veeranatyam, Kommu Koy, Dinsa, Veeragasalu, baby dance performances, puliveśalu, Kolattam, Garadi, Yaksha arts, Betala settu, Aghoras, Gorilla dances, and traditional Dappu drumming. The diversity and scale of the performances are expected to captivate audiences and place the Vijayawada Utsav in national and international discussions.

The centerpiece of the carnival will be a beautifully decorated chariot carrying Goddess Durga, accompanied by traditional musical ensembles and dance troupes, adding devotional grandeur to the celebration. This spectacle is set to enhance the festive spirit, blending art, culture, and faith in a truly mesmerizing manner.

The celebrations will be further elevated by the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, whose participation underscores the state government’s support and adds ceremonial prestige to the event.

The overarching goal of the Vijayawada Utsav is to establish the city as a global symbol of cultural excellence. Organizers aim to cement Vijayawada’s reputation as a hub of art, tradition, and devotion, making Dussehra synonymous with the city itself.
