GS Delhi Aces lift maiden Tennis Premier League title in Ahmedabad

GS Delhi Aces capped a dream debut season by clinching their maiden Tennis Premier League title after a commanding performance in the grand finale of TPL Season 7 at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium on Monday.

On the sixth and final day of the league, the Delhi Aces outplayed Yash Mumbai Eagles to secure a convincing 51-36 aggregate victory , underlining their dominance across formats. The final began with the women’s singles, where Sofia Costoulas once again set the tone for her team. Continuing her unbeaten run, the young star delivered a clinical display to defeat Riya Bhatia 18-7 and give the Aces an early edge.

The momentum firmly stayed with Delhi in the mixed doubles. Costoulas teamed up with Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan , and the pair showcased sharp coordination and aggressive net play to register a 16-9 win against Riya Bhatia and Niki Poonacha, extending their lead significantly.

In the men’s singles, world number 57 Damir Dzumhur pulled one back for the Mumbai Eagles with a solid 16-9 win over Billy Harris. However, the gap remained comfortable for the Aces. The title was effectively sealed in the men’s doubles, where Harris and Nedunchezhiyan kept their composure to defeat Poonacha and Dzumhur 8-4, completing a dominant overall win.

Earlier in the day, the semi finals set up a high quality finale. GS Delhi Aces stormed into the final with a comprehensive 51–28 win over Rajasthan Rangers. Sofia Costoulas starred again, recording the biggest winning margin of the season with a 19–6 victory in the women’s singles, while Billy Harris produced a standout performance in the men’s singles against Luciano Darderi.

In the second semi final, Yash Mumbai Eagles edged past SG Pipers Bengaluru in a nail biting contest, winning 51-49 on aggregate to book their place in the final.
