Green Signal for Machilipatnam–Repalle Railway Project

In a major infrastructure boost for coastal Andhra Pradesh, the Centre has reportedly cleared the long-pending Machilipatnam–Repalle railway line project. MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry said the new broad gauge rail corridor will be developed with an investment of ₹2,816 crore .

The proposed railway line, stretching 47.60 kilometres , will connect Machilipatnam in Krishna district with Repalle in Guntur district, giving a major push to connectivity and regional development.

Balashowry stated that administrative approvals are expected shortly and the project is targeted for completion within four years. He added that the Final Location Survey has already been completed, while the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has received Railway Board approval.

As part of the ambitious project, authorities will construct six railway stations , 70 bridges , and 24 underbridges . The route will also feature modern electrification and advanced signalling systems to improve operational efficiency and passenger safety.

The MP expressed confidence that construction works would begin soon, describing the railway line as a transformative project for the region’s transport network and economic growth.
