
Green signal for ₹130-crore double road works in Huzurnagar, Kodad
The road network in the Huzurnagar and Kodad constituencies of the erstwhile Nalgonda district is set to improve soon, with the State government giving the green signal for the development of Roads and Buildings (R&B) roads in these constituencies.
The government issued official orders on March 5 sanctioning about ₹130 crore for works covering nearly 49 kilometres to convert existing single-lane roads into double roads. The decision is expected to improve transport facilities for local residents. The funds were released following the efforts of State Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Kodad MLA Padmavathi Reddy .
Uttam Kumar Reddy, through his X platform, stated that the funds were sanctioned under the Major District Road (MDR) plan . The projects are expected to ease connectivity in rural areas and support commercial and agricultural activities.
In the Huzurnagar constituency , the government sanctioned ₹62 crore to upgrade 26.50 kilometres of roads to double-lane roads, benefiting about 15 villages. The Chintalapalem–Kistapuram stretch of 9.20 kilometres will be converted into a double road, benefiting Chintalapalem, Shobhanadrigudem, Adluru, Tammaram, Kothuru and Kistapuram villages.
Similarly, the Ramalakshmipuram–Huzurnagar bypass road of 3.80 kilometres will be widened, improving connectivity for residents of Ramalakshmipuram, Yerraram and Huzurnagar. Another 5.50-kilometre stretch from Amaravaram to Kothathanda will be expanded at a cost of ₹30 crore , benefiting Amaravaram, Anjalipuram Thanda and Kothathanda villages. The Guduguntlapalem–Ellapuram road covering 8 kilometres will also be converted into a double-lane road.
In the Kodad constituency , roads covering 22.60 kilometres will be developed with an allocation of ₹68 crore . The Kodad–Ananthagiri road of 6.60 kilometres will be widened from 7 metres to 10 metres, improving connectivity for residents of Kodad, Khanapuram and Ananthagiri villages.
The NH-9–Nelamarri road stretch of 10 kilometres will be converted into a double-lane road, while the Kapugallu–Dorakunta road covering 6 kilometres will also be widened.
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy reviewed the projects with officials and directed them to call for tenders immediately and begin the works on a war footing. Local residents expressed hope that the road expansion works would give a fresh boost to development in the region.
