Grand Opening of CM Cup–2026 Set for Feb 20 in Hyderabad

Telangana is set to witness a major sporting celebration with the launch of CM Cup–2026 , a flagship initiative aimed at promoting sports and identifying emerging talent across the state. The grand inauguration ceremony will be held on February 20 at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium, Gachibowli , and State Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari has invited Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to preside over the event. On Tuesday, the minister, along with Sports Authority of Telangana Chairman Shivasena Reddy and Managing Director Soni Baladevi , met the Chief Minister and formally presented the invitation.

The CM Cup is being organized to uncover hidden sporting talent among students and youth from rural and urban Telangana while promoting a culture of fitness and active living. The government views the tournament as a crucial step toward strengthening grassroots sports and encouraging young people to adopt healthy lifestyles through regular participation in athletics.

Competitions will be conducted in 44 sports disciplines across the state, offering opportunities to participants from school to university levels . The tournament structure includes multiple stages beginning at village and mandal levels and progressing through district rounds to state-level finals ensuring broad participation and a clear pathway for talented athletes to advance.

Officials have also introduced digital systems for online registration, performance tracking, and athlete identification to support long-term talent development and transparent selection processes.

Minister Srihari noted that sports participation builds competitive spirit, physical fitness, and mental resilience among youth. He emphasized that the CM Cup aims to produce athletes capable of excelling at national and international levels , reinforcing Telangana’s ambition to emerge as a leading sports hub in India.

As preparations near completion, CM Cup–2026 is expected to energize the state’s sporting ecosystem and provide thousands of young athletes a platform to showcase their abilities and pursue excellence.
