Grand celebrations of Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary in T’gana

Telangana marked the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of India’s unity, with grand celebrations on Friday as part of National Unity Day 2025. The highlight of the event was the "Run for Unity" initiative, aimed at promoting the spirit of national integration.

Union Minister Kishan Reddy, along with several leaders, expressed that participating in the Run for Unity was a great honor. Former Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu, also attended the event and addressed the gathering, emphasizing Sardar Patel’s enduring legacy as a freedom fighter, visionary statesman, and nation-builder. He said Patel’s efforts in uniting India after independence serve as an inspiration for future generations, urging the youth to contribute to building a strong and united India.

Earlier, BJP Telangana President Ramachander Rao paid tribute to Sardar Patel by garlanding his statue near the Assembly in Nampally-Saifabad. The services and vision of Patel for India’s unity were remembered and celebrated through the Run for Unity, with active participation from party workers, leaders, and members of the public.

Run for unity in Mahbubnagar: A 2-kilometer Run for Unity was organized in Mahbubnagar, starting from the Stadium Ground and covering Ambedkar Circle, Ashok Talkies, the Old Bus Stand, and ending at the Clock Tower. The event was conducted following directives from the central government to commemorate Patel’s birth anniversary. District Collector Vijayaendra Boyi, SP Janaki, leaders from Yuva Bharat Kendra, BJP officials, volunteers, and students from Palamuru University and various schools enthusiastically participated, making the run a success.

Run for unity in Uppal: In Uppal, the Rachakonda Commissionerate organized another 2-kilometer Run for Unity from Uppal Ring Road to the Uppal Cricket Stadium. The run was inaugurated by Rachakonda Commissioner Sudheer Babu, lyricist Anant Sriram, Everest climber Anvita Reddy, and athlete Kalpana Reddy. The officials highlighted that the event symbolized the unity of all citizens across India. Senior police officers, including DCP Malakajgiri Padma IPS and DCP Crimes Arvind Babu, also participated.

These celebrations, through tributes, speeches, and runs, reinforced Sardar Patel’s message of national unity and inspired citizens, especially the youth, to uphold the spirit of a united India.
