Govt to release October industrial production data on December 1
The government will release India’s industrial production data for October 2025 on December 1, an official statement confirmed on Friday.
The All India Index of Industrial Production (IIP) measures the performance of the country’s industrial sector, including manufacturing, mining, and electricity. It is a key indicator of industrial growth and overall economic health, closely watched by economists, businesses, and investors.
Typically, the IIP for each month is released on the 28th of the following month, or the next working day if the 28th falls on a holiday. For October, this would have been November 28.
However, the release has been delayed to coincide with the publication of the Quarterly GDP numbers for July-September 2025-26. The government said this would allow analysts and investors to look at both major economic indicators together, providing a clearer picture of the country’s economic performance.
For context, the IIP for September 2025 grew 4.0 % year-on-year, driven largely by a 4.8 % rise in manufacturing output. Analysts expect October growth to be similar or slightly higher, around 4.0-4.5 %, supported by festive-season demand, stronger manufacturing activity, and favorable macroeconomic conditions. Some sectors like mining or electricity may grow modestly, keeping overall industrial growth stable.
The October IIP figures will offer insights into industrial trends, help assess economic recovery, and guide policy decisions. Analysts will also compare the numbers with previous months to track sectoral performance and overall momentum in industrial activity.
