Govt clears general transfers in power utilities

The State government has cleared general transfers for the year 2025 in power utilities, relaxing the ban imposed earlier under Finance Department guidelines.

Orders were issued by the Energy Department on Sunday permitting general transfers in the Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited (TGGGENCO). Similar orders were issued on Monday allowing transfers in the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana (TGSPDCL) and the Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana (TGNPDCL).

The relaxation will be in force from December 23, 2025 to January 31, 2026, and is limited to the conduct of general transfers during this period. The Chairmen and Managing Directors of the respective corporations have been asked to take further action accordingly.

Separately, the government announced an increase in Dearness Allowance to 17.6 per cent, with effect from July 1, 2025, for employees of the power sector.
